Adam makes his entrance into the world

We were expecting our second child to be delivered on Wednesday morning. Plans were in place for his big sister to be looked after by friends so that Dad could be with Mum at the hospital. But Adam had other plans, and started to make his intentions apparent in the early hours of Monday morning. But after a morning spent at the maternity hospital we were told it was a false alarm and sent home again. Adam wasn't having any of it, and made another attempt to change the schedule to his choosing that evening. Mum went into labour around 6pm on the Monday evening, and we had to call local friends in a hurry to get them to come and baby sit for Adam's sister. In the delivery unit, it appeared at first that Mum's labour was well advanced. But at 11pm a reassessment resulted in a change in plans again as it appears Mum's labour was actually in the early stages. Adam was struggling a bit at this point, and the only real option was for Mum to have another emergency C-section delivery. Adam made his entry into the world just after midnight, making his birthday the Tuesday by just 7 minutes. The procedure appeared to go very smoothly, with Dad by Mum's side throughout. It was lovely to be able to cuddle our new baby boy immediately following the birth, after our previous experience with his big sister 3 years ago.
